Statement in support of Grazia Scotellaro

I first encountered Grazia at the CEDAM Joint ANU/USQ Workshop on Technology-Enhanced Learning in 2010, and heard her describe the Moodle course that she had helped develop with Italian teachers at ANU, Learning Italian for Opera.  I was very impressed by Grazia’s presentation and explanation of the learning design for this course and the effectiveness of the interactive activities.  So, when a year later I was asked by someone in my TESOL professional association to collaborate with Grazia on a program of PD activities for the ALAA-ALANZ conference in Canberra, I jumped at the opportunity to work with her.  Through that connection, and my attendance at CEDAM workshops, Grazia has extended invitations to me and other language teachers at CIT to attend additional workshops she conducts at ANU.  I have been very impressed with Grazia’s knowledge and her effective delivery of PD in the workshops I have attended: on using Moodle, interactive whiteboards, and podcasting for language teaching and learning; and on wikis in teaching and research.  Grazia has also given her time to demonstrate ANU’s new language laboratory facilities at the ANU and always responds quickly to my requests for further information.   The collegiality shown by Grazia and her readiness to share her expertise with colleagues in other institutions is greatly appreciated.  I would support any award to recognise her contribution to mentoring and supporting her teaching colleagues both in ANU and further afield.

Kind regards,
Lesley
